Next edition — Aug 15, 2027 (CONFIRMED)
Lake Suwa's main summer fireworks fill the lakefront beside Kamisuwa Onsen. Low bursts over the water are part of the attraction, so an unobstructed lake-level view matters. Combine the evening with a hot-spring stay, or compare rail-connected towns. A hotel booking and a viewing-seat booking may be separate purchases, even when the hotel overlooks the lake.
How the date is set — A fixed annual summer festival; ticket and transport arrangements are announced separately.
How often it runs — Annual; the smaller Summer Night Fireworks are a separate programme.
Goes first — The main festival night at Kamisuwa's lakefront inns; widen along the JR Chuo Main Line.
Act by — Ask your chosen hotel when festival-night rooms open and whether viewing seats are included.
The official FAQ says hotels set their own booking dates and may sell viewing seats separately.

A sold-out listing may reopen after a cancellation or an additional room release. 空きウォッチ Aki checks Rakuten Travel for new openings, so you can act when one appears.
Watch the rooms — free, no account
The lake and surrounding mountains are part of the performance: light spreads near the water and the sound echoes back. Pick a viewing area with a clear sightline across the lake. A distant aerial view may show the high shells while missing the lower effects.
Some lakeside hotels sell their own viewing places. Check what your accommodation package includes before buying another ticket. If staying in Okaya or Chino, plan both the train and the walk to the platform; the last stage of the journey is a crowd queue, not just a timetable.
Reserve the organiser's viewing seats or enquire about a hotel's separate viewing offer. Follow the current edition's ticket notice for collection and entry rules.

Watching for free — The published FAQ says fireworks can be seen outside paid seats, but the low water-level displays may be harder to see.
How hard it actually is — A lakefront address does not establish the view from a particular room. Confirm the room direction and any seat package with the hotel. Okaya and Chino are rail-base alternatives to compare; 空きウォッチ Aki shows the Rakuten Travel listings it checks, rather than all direct hotel packages.
What a night costs — Compare room, meal and viewing-seat charges together. A lake-view room category can cost more than another room in the same building.
