Where to stayHow hard it actually is — Ecopa is Shizuoka Prefecture's Ogasayama Sports Park, in the hills between Kakegawa and Fukuroi, and the area around its station has almost no hotels. The rooms are strung along the JR Tokaido Line: Kakegawa one stop east, a Shinkansen stop; Hamamatsu to the west, the biggest pool nearby; Shizuoka further east. Know before you go

It is festival weekend in both neighbouring towns. The Kakegawa Festival and the Fukuroi Festival both run 9–11 October, and during the Kakegawa Festival cars cannot enter the town centre. Taxis and anyone driving to a hotel in either town will feel it. Bad fit for: Anyone planning to drive

The last stretch is a climb: the park entrance is steep enough that the venue has installed a slope car and a moving walkway there for older and disabled visitors. Bad fit for: Mobility limits — plan for the slope car

The fan club is closed to anyone living abroad: FAMILY CLUB does not accept overseas addresses, and a Japan-based proxy cannot apply for you. Fan-club tickets are digital and appear in the member's account on the day of the show. Bad fit for: Overseas fans who do not yet hold a ticket

What regulars do

Take the train. Ecopa has no concert parking — only the park's free general car parks, shared with everyone — and warns that after a concert it can take more than an hour to get out of them. Aino station is 15 minutes away on foot, down one straight road. (How we know: Ecopa's page for these shows, and its access FAQ.)

Hamamatsu gives you the most slack after an evening show: trains toward it leave Aino until 0:07 on all three days. Shizuoka is the tight one. On 10 and 11 October JR runs a late 23:21 that reaches Shizuoka at 0:11; on the Monday the last train that gets there leaves at 22:52, and the ones after it stop at Kakegawa. If you want a taxi, take it from Kakegawa, not Aino. There is no bus from Aino to Ecopa, and the venue recommends a taxi from Kakegawa station's south (Shinkansen) exit — about 12 minutes. (How we know: Ecopa's access FAQ.)

For the Monday 14:00 show you may not need a room at all. An afternoon start leaves the whole evening's trains — to Hamamatsu until 0:07, to Shizuoka until 22:52 — and Kakegawa's Shinkansen is one stop away.
