Browse Yunotsubo for sweets and yuzu pepper paste, stroll beside Lake Kinrin and visit Bussanji’s quiet grounds. A Yufuin night can combine shopping, walking and time in the baths. Treat the lake-side sights and Unagihime Shrine or Ogosha south of the station as different directions, choosing a return time for the inn before setting out.
Yufu, Oita — From lively shopfronts to the lake, with quieter shrine paths beyond.
Places to explore
Eastern side of the centre
Lake Kinrin
Trees, mountains and nearby buildings reflect in the water at the end of the central town walk. Pause on the shore after the busy shopping streets. Autumn-to-winter mornings can bring mist, but the lakeside visit remains worthwhile without that particular scene.
- Location and access
- Follow Yufumi-dori and Yunotsubo from Yufuin Station towards the lake.
- Time to allow
- Allow 30–45 minutes at the lake, plus the town walk
Treat an early visit as a landscape walk before shops open, with browsing later.

Yunotsubo Street and Yokocho
Sweets, gifts and cafes invite small stops along the street. Browse selected flavours and objects rather than treat Lake Kinrin as a finish line. The small buildings and lanes in Yokocho add a townscape to the shopping, creating a different pace from the quiet lakeside.

- Follow Yufumi-dori from the station towards Yunotsubo.
- Time to allow
- Allow 60–90 minutes
