Walk beneath the willows and across stone bridges along the Otani River, then choose an open bathhouse. Straw craft and Onsenji Temple add local skills and history to a Kinosaki night. Check bathhouse closing days and dinner first, and give a ropeway outing its own time alongside the riverside stroll so there is room to pause.
Toyooka, Hyogo — Willow-lined streets, crafts and a mountain temple between baths.

Halfway up Mount Daishi
Onsenji Temple, Kinosaki
Kinosaki's guardian temple connects with the town's older bathing customs. Its lower gate and Yakushido are separate from the main hall halfway up the mountain. Leave the ropeway at Onsenji station for a main-hall visit, giving the temple time rather than treating it as part of the summit viewpoint.
- Location and access
- Use Onsenji ropeway station; the walking approach involves stone steps.
- Time to allow
- Allow 30–45 minutes plus travel
Include the middle-station stop when arranging a ride that also visits the summit.

- About seven minutes on foot from Kinosaki Onsen Station.
- Time to allow
- Allow 30–45 minutes
- Opening hours
- 10:00–16:00, last admission 15:30; closed Wednesdays and over New Year.

Kinosaki Literary Museum
Explore the town's links with writers including Naoya Shiga. Reading his short story In Kinosaki before walking gives another thread to follow through the streets and inns. The indoor displays offer a literary visit alongside riverside scenery and straw craft, rather than another bathhouse stop.
- Location and access
- Include it in a walk through the central riverside district.
- Time to allow
- Allow 45–60 minutes
Use it as the main rainy-day visit with a shorter river walk during a dry spell.

Goshono Yu
The large roof and Japanese-style architecture make this bathhouse a landmark on a town walk. Looking at the building is separate from a full bathing visit, which helps a mixed group plan time together. Choose it as one possible open bath near the inn rather than a compulsory stop in a fixed circuit.
Goshono-Yu bathhouse- Location and access
- Walk west through town from the Otani River area.
- Time to allow
- Allow 45–60 minutes
Use the day's closures and crowding to choose a bath, leaving space around dinner.

Station-side, central baths or farther into the valley
A station-side inn shortens the loaded arrival and departure. Around Ichino Yu, bathhouses and the riverside streets are close; farther into the valley, Onsenji and the ropeway shape a different walk. Compare station transfers and how you will return to town after leaving bags. If winter crab is the main purpose, choose origin, live-crab specification and the mix of grilled, raw and hot-pot dishes alongside the room. For families, an adult course photograph does not establish children's meals. Settle the menu and dinner start so bathing can fit around them.
