Station area, Hayakawa River
Ajisai Bridge and the Hayakawa
Step from the station shops towards the river for bridges, flowing water and inn buildings in one scene. Compare upstream and downstream views before continuing. The bridge offers a short opportunity to see Yumoto as a destination itself, rather than simply a transfer point for the mountain railway.
- Location and access
- Walk towards the river from Hakone-Yumoto Station
- Time to allow
- 15–25 minutes
Leave luggage before the river stop if continuing on foot towards Sounji.

Yumoto hillside above the centre
Sounji Temple
The temple grounds lie uphill from central Yumoto, surrounded by greenery beyond the busy station streets. Look at the buildings and trees during a quieter cultural stop. Special interior openings differ from an ordinary grounds visit, so the plan treats the outdoor precinct as the core experience rather than promising access inside.

- Time to allow
- 30–45 minutes
When combining with Sounji, allow for slopes and garden paths; shorten to one stop in rain.
