From late April to late October, fireworks rise over the lake at 20:45 every night — and lake-view rooms are the front-row seats, selling out holidays and summer Saturdays first. The famed lakeside inns already run full on Obon and Silver Week; a returned cancellation is effectively the only way in.
Cancellations cluster a few days out and in the weeks before each holiday. When lake-view rooms are gone, mountain-side rooms and inns toward Sobetsu are the fallback.
